Exploration and Discovery clubs have a wider appeal than traditional STEM clubs, so you can potentially reach and include young people with lower science capital.

Whether you are a confident leader of an established club or just at the beginning of your journey, this course will give you new tools and ideas to set up and run an Exploration and Discovery club – no science knowledge needed!

What is this course about?

During this practical session we will share creative, research informed approaches to help you create engaging community or afterschool clubs.

You will have the opportunity to try out many activities and discuss ideas that will give your target group the confidence and tools to engage with and talk about STEM, skills and careers.

All suggested activities use everyday materials that are easy to obtain, so you can get started with your Exploration and Discovery club straight away.

  • Key information for setting up and running a successful Exploration and Discovery club
  • Recent research based examples of good practice
  • Activities to use within your club to build your target groups’ scientific and mathematical skills
  • Practical ideas to make your Exploration and Discovery Club engaging to the widest possible audience, going beyond the ‘usual suspects’
